360-degree view of the Saarland

The Schaumberg (569 metres) is not only the most famous but also the most historic peak in the Saarland region. Today's observation tower was inaugurated in 1976 as a symbol of Franco-German friendship. After extensive modernisation it is now fully accessible. The tower houses an exhibition on Franco-German relations and the history of the Schaumberg. On 604 metres above sea level, 37.5 metres thereof above ground, the viewing platform of the Schaumberg tower offers a fascinating 360-degree panoramic view of the Saarland and beyond. Plus, there is an exhibition on climate protection, the “Schaumberg-Alm” for food and drink, a playground in Celtic-Roman style as well as a wishing tree and a viewing walkway.
