Imsbach Officer's Trail in Theley
The name "Offizierspfad" (Officers' Path) picks up on the history of the Imsbach farm estate, which had its heyday at the beginning of the 19th century. Louis Lapointe received the Hofgut from Napoleon as a reward for his military successes. He subsequently shaped the area around the Hofgut into a landscape park.
The trail leads us through extensive forest landscapes along the former border of the Saar region to the German Reich as well as the former border of the Imsbach farm estate to the district of Mettnich (part of today's Primstal, municipality of Nonnweiler). Along the way, we pass numerous historic boundary stones and the Rötel district between Theley and Selbach. The magnificent views reach as far as the Schaumberger Land, the Hochwald and the Freisener Höhe.
On the way back, we pass the Johann-Adams-Mühle. In the shady courtyard, you can take a rest in one of the last preserved mill buildings in the Saarland. We then come to the Imsbach estate with its restored chapel. At the idyllic pond, we can once again enjoy the nature of the Saarland before returning to the starting point.

Turn-by-turn directions
Our hike begins at the car park in Selbach. We walk straight ahead into the Kreuzwald forest, pass a first viewpoint and then enter the Katharinenwald forest. Here we take the second turn to the left and walk across meadows in the direction of Hofgut Imsbach. Before that, however, our path describes a bend and we cross the Imsbach.
The hiking trail leads us again over forest paths in the direction of Haneckerwald. At the fork, we turn right and walk through the Haneckerwald to the Johann-Adams-Mühle. Walk around the mill on the right and finally, after crossing the Imsbach again, you reach the Imsbach farm. After the estate, we cross the stream again and walk along the right bank at the edge of the Rötelwald forest until we cross a hiking trail, which we follow to the right.
Then turn left and walk through the Petereiwald forest to the spring at Bruderborn. We return to the car park along the foothills of the Kreuzwald forest.
